The low rent Examiner borrows a story idea from Star, one of its better funded AMI kennel mates, and devotes most of the cover to celebrity women not wearing make-up. Being the low rent Examiner, the list of course includes some older women, notably Barbara Walters and Katie Couric, but it also has several women less than 50 years of age, including Kate Hudson, Debra Messing and Edie Falco

Star has picutres of actresses, singers and models without make-up and almost all of them look not very good to downright awful. There was one "guess who?" picture of a model, but I don't play that game. The people identified are J. Lo, Teri Hatcher, Meg Ryan and Kirstie Alley.

Star magazine publishes a picture of glamor puss Sophia Vergara without make-up. The star says she feels naked without make-up.

I can see how she feels that way. Even so, both of these pictures lack a certain something.

Ahh, yes! World class cleavage! Much better.

This is not about weight, but being photographed without makeup is probably harder on female celebrities than being photographed in swimwear. Here's my take on the six women on the cover.

Fairly flattering: Tyra Banks, Angelina Jolie, Katie Holmes, Kourtney Kardashian
Not so good: Katie Couric, Carrie Underwood

This is the closest I have seen to an unflattering story about Carrie Underwood on the cover of any tabloid so far this year.

Fresh trash delivered tomorrow! The last story of the week is Weekly Life & Style joining the trend of showing attractive women without make-up. This is Kim Kardashian without any help, or so we are lead to believe. Obviously, someone worked on her hair, and they didn't say anything specific about no airbrushing. I have a hard time believing she is wearing absolutely no foundation, but in any case, she is wearing a hell of a lot less make-up than usual.

As a heterosexual male, let me say she is a very attractive young woman. Also, kudos to Kim for showing a tiny amount of cleavage. Men are very easily distracted.
