Meanest Story nominee:Chelsea Clinton's husband heading for the mental hospital

I don't really consider Chelsea Clinton a celebrity. She's the daughter of a former president, but she's making no effort to keep herself in the spotlight. This does not keep the dogs in the AMI kennel from continuing to hound her and her husband Marc Mezvinsky. This week, it's the Enquirer saying the Marc is heading for the mental hospital, with the small type sub-headline "friends fear".

I'd say it's time to get some new friends. This is a Meanest Story nominee.

Last week's story in the Star about trouble in Chelsea Clinton's six month old marriage almost won the Meanest Story of the Week, barely losing to a story about Prince Charles being diagnosed with Alzheimer's. This week, the Star doubles down on the nasty and says the marriage is through. The subheadlines read:

• Reconciliation backfires
• Baby bombshell
• Blow up that drove Marc to move out

This one is also a nominee of Meanest Story this week. Stay classy, Star!

Meanest Story nominee:Chelsea and her new husband have a trial separation.

This story is true, but Star puts the worst possible slant on it. Marc Mezvinsky is taking an extended vacation to go skiing and Chelsea stayed home. Right wing blogs and Star magazine have decided this means they are breaking up.

This gets a Meanest Story nomination this week.

You might have missed the fact that Chelsea Clinton got married last weekend. But, if you are reading this, that means you have a computer connected to the Internet, so I have to assume this is not the first time someone has told you this.
