Celebrations of Indian Cricket Team [World Cup 2011]

World cup final was interesting for many reasons but it would be remembered till eternity for the manner of win. The lost game was reclaimed not by miracle but by determination. The new India is different. Believe it or not, this victory is announcement of jettisoning of slavery mentality. Only a proud India can fight back. See the way Gambhir and Kohli batted after the fall of Sehwag and Sachin wickets. The phase of hero-worship is over in India. Every individual is great. Gambhir has faith in himself as he is representative of liberated India. Same is true of Virat Kohli. The two helped stabilize the score not only due to techniques alone but also due to faith in oneself.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni - their captain, talisman and most marketable player - lifted the biggest one-day prize on offer in the game to send a cricket-mad country into delirium. And he did it 28 years after Kapil Dev achieved the same feat at Lord's.And he did it 28 years after Kapil Dev achieved the same feat at Lord's.

Commonwealth - Closing Ceremony

In the end, patriotic fervour managed to grab eyeballs for the Games. The outstanding performance of India managed to notch up a high viewership of 16 million people across the country, for the closing ceremony of the CWG 2010 on Thursday. This compares well with the reach numbers of 17 million who watched the closing of Beijing Olympics in 2008. The interest was actually higher than IPL's both opening and closing ceremonies at 11 million and 14 million respectively.

Though the reach figures were lower than the opening ceremony (29 million), industry experts attribute it to the fact that October 14 was a week day, while both the opening ceremony of the Games (October 3) as well as the Beijing Olympics (September 24) were on Sundays. So for most people, barring Delhiites, it was a working day.

According to a Hindustan Times report, Sachin will act alongside actor Sharman Joshi and Boman Irani. Producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra, however, is not ready to disclose any detail about Sachin's role.

Few months back, Sachin had tweeted, "Vinod Chopra has a script called Ferrari Ki Sawari. Just heard it. Sounds awesome." In yet another tweet, which he posted with a picture of him and Chopra, he had said, "Hanging with Vinod Chopra and Atul Kasbekar... 3 more Idiots?"

Chopra and Mapuskar are writing the script, while Raj Kumar Hirani will write the dialogues.

The story of the film reportedly is revolves around a boy who is inspired by a cricket legend's Ferrari to play at the Lord's cricket ground. It must be noticed that Sachin the only cricketer in India who owns a Ferarri.

Two years back, Sachin had shot for a documentary on Mumbai's Siddhivinayak temple, in which he spoke how he felt when he visited the temple.

Prior to Sachin, many other cricketers - Vinod Kambli, Ajay Jadeja, Salil Ankola, Sunil Gavaskar and Sandeep Patil - tried their luck on the silver screen but achieved little success. Will Sachin change that equation?
