Celebrations of Indian Cricket Team [World Cup 2011]

World cup final was interesting for many reasons but it would be remembered till eternity for the manner of win. The lost game was reclaimed not by miracle but by determination. The new India is different. Believe it or not, this victory is announcement of jettisoning of slavery mentality. Only a proud India can fight back. See the way Gambhir and Kohli batted after the fall of Sehwag and Sachin wickets. The phase of hero-worship is over in India. Every individual is great. Gambhir has faith in himself as he is representative of liberated India. Same is true of Virat Kohli. The two helped stabilize the score not only due to techniques alone but also due to faith in oneself.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni - their captain, talisman and most marketable player - lifted the biggest one-day prize on offer in the game to send a cricket-mad country into delirium. And he did it 28 years after Kapil Dev achieved the same feat at Lord's.And he did it 28 years after Kapil Dev achieved the same feat at Lord's.

Commonwealth - Closing Ceremony

In the end, patriotic fervour managed to grab eyeballs for the Games. The outstanding performance of India managed to notch up a high viewership of 16 million people across the country, for the closing ceremony of the CWG 2010 on Thursday. This compares well with the reach numbers of 17 million who watched the closing of Beijing Olympics in 2008. The interest was actually higher than IPL's both opening and closing ceremonies at 11 million and 14 million respectively.

Though the reach figures were lower than the opening ceremony (29 million), industry experts attribute it to the fact that October 14 was a week day, while both the opening ceremony of the Games (October 3) as well as the Beijing Olympics (September 24) were on Sundays. So for most people, barring Delhiites, it was a working day.

Commonwealth - Open Ceremony

19th Commonwealth Games which begins today, started off with the opening ceremony last night at the Jawaharlal Nehru stadium in New Delhi. A near-capacity 60,000 crowd enjoyed the spectacle which, as its centrepiece, featured an illuminated ‘Aerostat’. Nagada drummers beat out the countdown to the opening accompanied by traditional Shankha trumpeters as the stadium lights were dimmed and the "Aerostat", a reportedly nine-million-dollar (400-million-rupee) white helium-filled balloon, rose 25 meters above ground level.Hundreds of thousands of residents of the Indian capital lined the streets, with a global television audience of more than a billion watching the two-and-a-half-hour event which heralds 11 days of competition.

1000 YEARS OLD TEMPLE IN INDIAN

How can a single stone of 81.5 tonnes intalled at the top tower?

Architectural studies show that a larger forecourt measuring 241 by 121 meters was specially designed to spatially hold the tower. The court was made of two equal square parts and the vimana was placed at the centre of the rear square. This provided the necessary foreground to view the elegance of the tower in full.

If the vimana was exceptional, the gopuras or gateways of this temple are milestones in architecture history. Rajarajesvaram was‘the greatest single step forward' in the development of gopuras in South India. Their axial placement frames the view of the vimana impressively and visually anchors the visitor. Though many structures and shrines were added to Rajarajesvaram till 19th century, they have not fortunately cluttered the complex and the original design intent can still be appreciated.

What is not well known, despite abundant inscriptions, are the names of the architects who designed it and the methods of construction adopted.
It is popularly believed that a linear ramp stretching seven kilometres was built and stones were hauled to the top. Few others suggest that short ramps around the tower were constructed. There is no final word yet on this.

Top most few reasons for success of Indian software industry

1) The number one reason has to be the large well educated population in India.

2) The highest number of English speaking people.

3) The Indian culture itself is a huge contributor. For e.g: Parent’s commitment to children’s education. The importance of education is ingrained by them on their children at a very young age. They see good education as the only means to have better standard of living.

4) As much as Indian IT Industry has grown due to offshoring, equal amount of credit should go to growth of domestic companies in Auto, retail, banking, telecommunication, manufacturing etc. They have equally contributed in its growth .

5) The young and dynamic working population. More than 60%; of Indian people are below age 25 !

6) The rapid growth in IT parks in India in last 10 years. Government setup SEZs (specialized economic zones), where opening of software services companies would get certain tax subsidies. This attracted lot of companies to setup software shops.

7) The tax breaks and shops offered by Indian government for upcoming software firms. This made India one of the most attractive markets for setting up Software shop.

8) The commitment of Indians towards their work. It is a common knowledge that people in Software Industry normally put more than 10 hours a day in their work. I do not subscribe to the view that working long hours necessarily leads to higher productivity, but I think this “hard working Indians” definitely plays on people’s mind.

9) Rapid growth in Infrastructure and transportation facilities that started in mid nineties. Yes, we still have to go a long way yet, but we are moving in right direction.

10) The entrepreneurial spirit and Innovative tilt of Indians. This may be controversial, however I think it is a factor that has made Infosys and Wipro such huge success stories !

11) The time difference is one of the reasons for growth of Indian IT Industry. Western countries get advantage of having a 24 hour work cycle.

If I have missed some, drop in a comment and I will add them here.
